I am staying at the Palace for the 2nd year in a row, by staying at the Palace you can go to the Santa Fe. We had a great time last year and will be attending the first show on the 7th.If anyone likes football, In town go to the Cabo Blue the only place around to catch your team and they have cheap eats and drinks, also close to the cantina.. See ya at the pool..
Getting even more stoked for October! Thanks for all the advice. Having lived in SE Asia, I learned the power of good tipping, so no problems there. I loved David's line "even if the drinks are weak, have a couple dozen more." Totally my plan. Both my wife and I lack an off-switch, so it's actually probably good to water down. See you all at the pool bar! Mas tequila!
This will be year two for us and our friends staying at the Santa Fe with a thousand or so other redheads. It is definately a party all week. Shuttles are cheap to get into town from the hotels. It's all inclusive so even if the drinks are weak just have a couple dozen more! The shuttle will also stop on the way to the hotel at costco or any other store so you can pick up liquour of choice for your room. Shots for the entire pool or at the bar at night is always a fun time and a great show. I thought there was enough variations in buffet food and the 4 theme restauants to please everyone. There are some incredible retaurants in town as well so venture out....become a native in sunny Cabo. We have tickets for Friday night's show. Prebook your shuttle..Going through the airport sucks as you have all sorts of yahoo's trying to sell you crap, trips and timeshares Ignore them all and head outside....shuttles will have cold beer ready for your ride. Ask the guy to show you Sammy's beach house on the way by!
Never been to Cabo, but have travel agent friends who have stayed at the Palace. They loved it; highly recommended an ocean view room. We've read the reviews from others who complained about weak drinks and cool food, but we're also paying attention to those who suggest getting to know your bartenders and offering tips. Really don't know how far away we'll be from The Cantina, but maybe we can share a taxi when we have to go in to town for our wristbands/tickets on concert day. See you there!

All inclusive resorts can never make everyone happy. Some complain about weak drinks, others the food or the accommodations, etc. I agree with redrocke327, just bring at least 100 loose 1 dollar bills and tip your bartender well and you are good to go the whole time you're there. Goes the same with room service if you want your frige stocked at all times. They will always remember a good tipper and that is the case at every all inclusive resort no matter the rating of the resort. When we were in Cancun, they were fighting over who would keep our frige stocked because we would reward them handsomely!! We're at the Santa Fe, hope we run into each other!!
If it is like the RIU Santa Fe you will find that yes the food is mediocre and the drinks will vary from place to place. The best suggestion is to stick with a particular pool/bar and give the bartender a little extra/tip. They will get to know you and what you want and how you want it. You will also need to taxi your way into town or you can walk out to the road area and take the local bus. The local bus is way cheaper but you will need to make sure it stops at the resort.
We'll be there, too, but getting in a day earlier. We'll just have to meet you with a beverage when you arrive. Going to show on the 7th.
Have you stayed at the Palace before? It's our first time that far from town, or at an all-inclusive, so curious what to expect. Then again, even if it's cheap booze and mediocre food, it's all good. Just happy we got tickets! See ya there!
