You Think Sammy Doesn't Care About His Fans? Read This!

Some people say that Sammy Hagar doesn't care about his fans--that he's only in it for the money. Well, I'm here to tell you that that is definitely NOT the case.

On Oct. 9, 2012, during Sammy's birthday bash in Cabo, he started talking about dreams and how important it is to follow your dreams. Then he went on to tell everyone about me and my book, DANCE OF THE ELECTRIC HUMMINGBIRD. He said that I was a perfect example of a person who followed her dream and because of it, I have a published book. You see, it has always been my dream to be a writer. It is important here to note that Sammy played a very big role in helping make my dream come true, but he did not mention this fact. He didn't take any credit for the fact that he is a prominent character in my book and that he constantly encouraged me over the years to "Keep on writing, Pat." Nor did he mention the fact that he kept telling audiences about me and my writing time and time again during his concerts and even on the radio. He also didn't mention that he gave me a HUGE written endorsement for my book, permission to use his name, his likeness and song lyrics or that he's selling DANCE OF THE ELECTRIC HUMMINGBIRD in the gift shop of his Cabo Wabo there in Mexico. Nor did he announce that his son Aaron did the cover painting for my book.

And all of this without asking anything in return.

Sammy didn't have to do any of this, but he did. He didn't have to give me the incredible shout out that he gave me on October 9 either. I couldn't tell if he wanted me to get up onstage with him or if he was just talking about me because he reached for me, then several times, he said, "I want to bring up Pat." But the security guard in front of me must have been new to Cabo Wabo, because if it would have been one of the ones who had worked there for years, they would have known me and probably boosted me onstage themselves. Instead, the security guard in front of me just blocked my way.

No matter.

Sammy went on for several minutes about me and my poems and my book, then he went into the song "Dreams"--slow and low. I was mesmerized and so overcome that I couldn't stop the tears. It was truly a surreal moment, and it just goes to prove how much Sammy really does care about his fans. He also said, "You people have no idea how much you mean to me... well, some of you do..."

There's a video of this moment right here on rr.com if you're interested. It's under the "Sammy Hagar's Birthday Bash 2012 - Night Two 10/9/12" at 01:24:31 in the video.

In just one day, sales of my book jumped two-thirds up the charts on Amazon.com from where they've been lately and I know it's because of the amazing shout out I got from Sammy in Cabo last week.

Dreams really do come true. I am a living example. There is no way I can ever express how much this means to me, but as REDheads, I know you know that "What is understood doesn't need to be discussed..."

Thanks so much, Mandy. You ROCK! I couldn't figure out if he wanted me to get up onstage or if he meant it figuratively. I was waiting for him to motion me up or something, but he kept on talking, so I didn't know what to do. Plus, the security guard in front of me was not one of the usual guys there and he was blocking my way. If it would have been one of the guys who know me, they would have been boosting me up, I'm sure. Oh well. It's all good.

I was so shocked and honored, I cried all my makeup off! lol!

Anyway, thanks for your comment. Sorry it took me MONTHS to reply.

Thanks so very much for your comment. I am waaaay behind on checking this website!

It is so very true that when you are on the right track of where your life is *meant* to be, things just magically seem to fall into place. I hope the positive things and the magic in your life continue to come to you. It is not silly at all--it's the purpose of your life to experience those things.

It is my sincere wish that all these positive things will continue for you!

Thanks so much for buying my book. I hope you liked it!

Wishing you love, light and continued blessings,
Baja Rock Pat

I just had to respond here. I purchased your book on Amazon after reading this string of posts. The things in the first few chapters of your book could almost be my story. Married young abusive 1st husband and three boys.Irish catholic always the "good girl". Even my now husband is a musician. Music however has always been what I went to at the worst times in my life and it has helped me heal and Sammys life & music has been an inspiration in my life for sometime now. We have seen him locally many times and this maybe strange but the last concert we went to in Tuscon we were in the 1st row. Of course this was a real big deal for us and we saved so we could make it happen. Sammy saw I was wearing my old fan club badge and pointed at me and did the heart sign with his hands to me. Silly but it felt magical and I couldn't believe he acknowledged me. The next day I got some really great news and my life has been forever changed perhaps a coincidence or the power of positive thinking but either way it has had a great impact. We were even able to finally fulfill our dream and go to a birthday bash. This is were you come in after reading about your book I had to buy it. The title alone pushed me since Hummingbirds are so spiritual to me it just felt like a sign. My Mom and mother in law passed away and when I'm down I usually see hummingbirds. Some might say coincidence again but when I need it most I will usually see a pair. I am not done with your book yet but already had to say thanks! You were meant to meet Sammy and of course I'd love to meet him one day too but I was meant to read your book. Thank you!

Very well said Pat. Sammy does care and he does go the extra mile for each and every one of us.....Its just that not too many are as aware of it as they should be. He touched my soul years ago with his music, and has inspired me to move forward during the darkest days of my life. Which I will be forever greatful for. All of this I have taken from him, and never had the pleasure of meeting him, or the opportunity to thank him. He truely is an inspiration for me to look forward to the future, rather dwelling on the past. I know he knows, and I thank him for being there!

Great story and nice one Sammy. Most of my dreams have come true and when they happen it is something else. Talking of dreams come true How about us fans here in the UK and Europe being able to buy your official merchandise online. Cash is waiting !. Now that would be a dream come true.

Thank you for this exquisit entry! I wish I had purchased your book while I was there, but alas if you read my Cabo Birthday Bash Blog "Do what you love to do, then do it some more" , I didn't have the same luck (this time) as you, as I wasn't thinking straight as I toasted my knee in my first hours there. You give me so much inspiration as does Sammy. I wrote Sammy a Rock-n-Roll musical which I am trying to get him to read, I have kind of had a spiritual connection with his music too. I would love to purchase your book.!
