I'll Be Seeing Y'all in Cabo For The Birthday Bash!

April 21, 2016 by black magic

This is my first blog post here and I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jake and I had the most absolutely crazy-lucky-wonderful thing happen to me. I won the Mercury Insurance/AXS-TV Birthday Bash sweepstakes. I'm still in disbelief! This is the first time I have ever won something like this. This will also be the first time that we have ever been Cabo San Lucas, although I have wanted to go what seems like forever. I have been a fan of Sammy from pretty much the time I was able to enjoy music and find what fits me. I have been to many Sammy shows, as well as, Van Halen when ever he/they would pass through the Houston area. My wife and I cannot wait to get to Cabo to meet and hang out with all of you crazy Redheads and words cannot describe how amazing it will be to see Sammy and Mike performing live at the Cabo Wabo. Did I happen to mention that I got the call on the day of our 10-year anniversary? How crazy is that? So, do you have any recommendations or advice of what we should do(other than the show) when we are in Cabo? Anyway, we hope to see y'all there!

Recap:
So, the sweepstakes included round-trip airfare, hotel, dinners, private tour of the Cabo Wabo, horseback riding, a meet & greet and 2 VIP shows. We had an awesome time. I thought about going into details in this response, but I may just make a new blog to tell the story.

It'll be my first time to Cabo too and I couldn't be more excited! I'll be there for 9 nights, so I'll be watching this blog for pointers on where to go and what to see!

That is awesome news.

You need to see if they let you extend your dates. The shows are usually on the 7th, 9th, 11th & 13th! I go for 10 days now...a week is never long enough!

So many great places to eat & drink.

Welcome aboard!
You go there once, you'll be there twice (so I've heard).
Grab a drink when you get off the plane and see how long it takes you to do the Cabo Wabo.
Whatever you do, don't buy a timeshare.
CUFDIC!

Norma,

Thank you for the kind words and advice. Most of this is going to be out of my hands, as the prize includes airfare, transport and accommodations. I haven't been given any details yet, probably due to the distant timeframe, but hopefully soon. I do know that we'll be there for three nights(11-13). That is good to know about the swimmable beaches and exploring places to eat and drink. Again, thank you for the advice and we can't wait to see you and everybody else in October!

Make sure your passports are updated and they don't expire this year. They have to be good for 6 months after your return date. Something that they don't specify. I saw where you live in LaPorte. Start looking for airfares thru S/W Airlines. I've never used them to go to Cabo but my friends have and they said it's not bad.

Congrats on your win Jake. From Houston - it's a cheap and easy flight to Cabo! Southwest flies there now so United dropped their fares. You should find airline tickets for under $500 round trip. We go outs for $340.00 this year!

There are so many awesome places to stay at. We have stayed at the Playa Grande for the past 6 years. It's off the marina and walking distance to everything. If you are on a budget, then I highly recommend the Hotel Mar de Cortez or Siesta Suites Hotel. The Wyndham is just down the street and they usually offer packages too. We stay away from the timeshare BS and just rent from owners who have more than one time share. If you want to be near the swimmable beach then the ME Cabo or Casa Dorado are great places but expensive. We quit doing the all-inclusive because there are so many great cheap places to eat and drink at. Good luck and we will see you in October
