On a bad day, a hug can make it all better. National Hug Day, is a day to commemorate the kindness of those who fill that requirement. Totally free hugs are intended as a random act of kindness. The legal system, though, has become engaged. National Hug Day won’t require any payday loans to participate in, just give somebody a hug.

The way National Hug Day started

In 1986 in the northern United States, National Hug Day was started as a day to commemorate hugs. The date of National Hug Day and the name "National Hug Day" was registered with the United States Trademark office. National Whiner’s Day as December 26 was also registered by Rev. Kevin Zaborney who registered National Hug Day as Jan 21. National Hug Day is now celebrated within the United States, Canada, England, Australia, Germany and Poland.

In order to commemorate, National Hug Day, you just do, just like National Whipped Cream Day and International Beer Day. The “most huggable people” are named by the National Hug Day group also. For 2011, the group named the Chilean miners. There is no association between National Hug Day and the Free Hugs Strategy. Nevertheless, it is a good day to check it out. In public places, if some stranger wants to hug you, don’t worry. The Totally free Hugs Strategy is just trying to spread some kindness with the act of a hug.

Issues National Hug Day has legally

National Hug Day and the Totally free Hugs Campaign are, unfortunately, not without controversy. Juan Mann, a resident of Australia, started offering totally free hugs in June 2004. He became famous first for his Totally free Hugs Campaign, and then again when the city he was offering totally free hugs banned him for not carrying public liability insurance. There was a way to resolve that issue although the lesson to learn is that you cannot force a hug on everyone, just offer, on National Hug Day, Jan twenty one, when offering free hugs. Be sure to double-check any city regulations on what you are doing as well, to make sure that your celebration does not run afoul of the law.
