Redheads - We pulled it off!

Fans came from all over the world - I saw banners from the Netherlands, Brazil, Belgium, Japan! And of course the US was represented, I saw St Louis, Delaware, Phoenix and there were many more!

The show was so awesome, I loved it and what a great setlist! Of course, we're all looking forward to getting back to Cabo next year and in the meantime, Cabo had 7 flights come in over the weekend. It's coming back stronger than anyone expected and we are planning on a big event down there sometime in December, I will keep you posted with plenty of notice!

My husband and I were so excited to finally get to see Sammy Hagar but there was nothing but regret and disappointment.

My husband and stepson were at the meet and greet on 10/18/14 because my stepson won tickets on KLOS. My husband and I have been a fans of Sammy Hagar since he was 13 and I was 15 (age 52 & 53) and when my husband asked for Sammy to sign a Chicken Foot cd, Sammy stated that he isn't signing anything, however not 2 minutes later he is signing some stuff for other fans. It's because of your fan base that you have made it and became so famous.

We were supposed to see him in Cabo, however we decided to go to Las Vegas even though we really don't like Vegas just so we could see Sammy. So, we decided to upgrade our tickets and asked the girl at the ticket booth where the upgraded seats were going to be and she stated that I don't have a chart but they are really good seats and about 4 feet from the stage so we paid over $420 to sit off to the side in the nose bleed area so that all the people who paid $85 can be right in front of the stage (what's wrong with this picture). I can't believe this is such a f***ing mess.

I don't know who put this venue together, however they should be fired. I use to respect Sammy because he was so different, no he's just money hungry. I am so pissed that I only listened to 3 songs and had to go back to my room for the shear fact that there was nothing but lies.

Sammy should have done something special for the people who won the opportunity to see him in Cab San Lucas, but he didn't and had it at a venue that was horrible and poorly put together. You owe me a refund. My name is Kristina Link and I won the opportunity to purchase tickets for his birthday bash night #1 what a DISAPPOINTMENT!!! PLEASE REFUND ME MY MONEY.

Of all the venues in Vegas, Sammy plays in a parking lot. It was a horrible venue, however, Sammy was great and John should be the new drummer for Chickenfoot. He is amazing!!! Sammy should have played the venue that was built for him, a stage on a beach, Mandalay Bay Beach.

Well, I waited a few days to comment. I did the RED ZONE option for this concert. I was really disappointed, not in Sammy's delivery or Rock ability (maybe a little, I'll explain), but in the Beer situation. 1st, all I could get was Pabst Blue Ribbon in a can, What? I thought it was a joke, 2nd, I couldn't get any during the show. This poor beer guy had was opening them on the ground and pouring them into plastic cups, I thought I was in Mexico when I saw that....Then there is the music, It sounded good, but I personally would like to hear some different Sammy Songs, Like Trans Am (yeah that was me who was singing that, if you heard it.) Then Chickenfoot reunites for the first time in 5 years and only play 4 of their songs, I was hoping for more. It wasn't as disappointing as Ferrari no longer making 5 speed stick shifts. During the show I had an Idea though. I want to hear Trans Am, and Sammy was wearing a Tesla shirt. I have been playing around with some "Tesla in the place of Trans Am" lyrics. My reasoning is that Sam likes the smoke and burning oil of muscle cars, and Tesla is all electric. Well he could do a song for Tesla with the "Trans Am" music and be the Smoke and Burning oil that They lack.

Yes, we loved seeing Sammy but the venue did really suck. We upgraded to the VIP Lounge. Really, what a joke. I could have done a better job bartending and all I drink is beer!!!

We did go to the front area but were kept to the far right of the stage. Guess my $200 VIP tickets didn't amount to much. The drinks sucked, the VIP area sucked, and when we went to the "meet and great", that sucked too.

Oh well, had an awesome time on Fremont Street watching all the "freaks"!

Hope to see Sammy in Cabo where we KNOW we will have a better time. Mexico knows how to put on an awesome party!!!

I was so JAZZED when I got back to the Arctic it started to melt here at Prudhoe Bay. Great Show and what a crowd.... Fletch

Thanks to Sammy and crew for pulling this together so quickly. While there were some bumps in the scheme of things at the show I was still impressed. Also thankful that the bartenders were still serving after the show for those with wristbands that weren't able to make much use of them earlier. If I had tried to plan such an event with advanced notice the complaint list might have brought the net to its knees. Glad things worked out and the show went on. Sammy and guests were great and so was the set list. Bonham was a fantastic addition. Met some great fans, heard some great Sammy stories. Looking forward to something in the near future where red heads can help make a difference for the Cabo area.

I agree 100 per cent with everything you said!! I met Sammy in an alley, and unfortunately told him the same story.. he seemed aware and still invited me in.. Sammy and his music is what I had expected and got!! Rock it Sammy!!

We traveled from Buffalo, NY for the show. I have read the posts on the site and have to say the show was very good. Sammy did a great job on short notice. Putting this together in a month had to be tough. The Chickenfoot encore was good, wish they played a few more Foot songs but as he said they haven't played together in over a year so given that news I still thought it was a great encore. As stated in other posts its not Cabo, we were lucky enough to get tickets there last year, it was amazing. But the show in Las Vegas was still a great show.

The issue on getting drinks was a joke. The event center just opened up that night so there will always be growing pains. For those of you who bought the wrist bands to drink all night should get a refund. The VIP section was a joke, but don't blame Sammy on this, the layout just sucked. The RED Zone was stated to be standing room only but a prime view of the stage which it was, I am glad I spent the extra $20 for this zone, worth every penny. I just think they need more bathrooms and bartenders.

Overall it was a great night, thanks again Sammy!!!

Sorry to my fellow REDHEADS that didn't have such a great time - I know how disappointed and let down you must feel. However, I've never been able to afford to attend a Birthday Bash in my life, so I hope as time moves forward you'll remember a great moment or two and feel grateful that you were IN THE HOUSE with this special person on his birthday. Peace everyone.

Those of you who had a bad experience at the DLV Event Center should be also posting on their Facebook Page. I did, but I haven't seen anyone else letting other people know that it was handled terribly. A lot of people paid a lot of money for seats and drinks that where just not there. My husband and I have seen Sammy in Cabo for 15 years and this was the 1st time that we have ever talked about was how bad the experience was and not what a good time we had. Very sad.

WE thought the same way as you folks! Here is our story: I hate to report this but I WAS there and sadly enough we wish we HAD NOT wasted the time. Don't get me wrong, the show was okay (and I love his music) but the evening was terrible- let me explain-
The ticket category prices were as follows: $65 standing only-(orange colored wrist bands) Tickets sold at $85.00 (red wrist bands- that was what we purchased) were standing "room" only (event center was outside actually) and this $20 upgrade was to give us a reserved "spot" (still standing BUT in a special limited number of people capacity section that was to be located IN FRONT of the stage. Well- we got the upgraded $85 tickets but there was not a upgrade at ALL!! We were stuck in a human stew of orange banded general admission ticketholders and red banded up-graders all pushing and pulling was so to win a spot closest to the stage intense that we finally opted to sit basically behind the stage! There were also $125 ticketholders who had chairs and a special seating area that the LV Metro Police Dept did regulate but they were positioned on the side of the stage. THOSE tickets were like I said were designated and policed for crowd control but that was because they were Cabo transfers that had already paid the price to see Sammy in Cabo San Lucas before the hurricane changed that. Here is the cherry on that birthday cake- everyone (the $65, the $85 and even the $125 ticketholders) were forced for almost 2 hours to stand in line to purchase a beer (warm) or a drink. This made EVERYONE pissed; I mean people all over the place were angry which a pleasant experience it was NOT. Just think about it- a few thousand or so people - all of them irritated for enjoying the show in a drink line barely able to see the stage while the person they went with (me) was trying to make her way through a thick agressive human stew of people trying to reach an area that did not exist and was already occupied with orange banded ticket holders as well as confused & angry red banded people (like me) trying to push through to front of the stage to locate the $85 section that did not exist! The VIP section (Cabo transfers) very also very hostile and angry atmosphere because of the 2 hour wait in line beverage SNAFU! (BTW: a insane 2 hour wait in line for as drink ended costing us $22 for 2 very small weak watered down drinks. . . and the fun of enjoying the concert in the drink line where you couldn't really see the stage at all! Also- the song list that Hagar described in his media announcements was not what we heard. The concert was good but they ended playing 6 (yes SIX) old Van Halen tunes and 4 Led Zeppelin tunes and only 2 Chickenfoot songs. Hagar had said in his press releases that $125.00 VIP Cabo transfers would get an opportunity to get a signed autograph after the show. They didn't get anything. We witnessed this: the show ended and he did not do an encore (something that most every concert goer expects) and then Hagar disappeared into a black limo & sped off down the road! The ticket upgrade SNAFU- I am not saying was his fault. However, all the factors I described above were treated to having a bad experience in one way or another. Maybe they should have said for an extra $20 you can give Sammy a little something extra for his birthday. Those of us who paid the extra $20 bucks for that non-existent special were ripped off-regardless of whose fault it was. The kicker here was that he saluted us (like a soldier) after abruptly ending the show and said " I salute you Las V for having us and making the Cabo Bash still happen. I couldn't help but think at this point, "no need to thank us... we already got screwed". I am not placing blame entirely on Hagar but his press releases did not deliver what he said would happen on stage, the event center didn't accommodate what was promised and everybody (Cabo transfers too) were slighted. We are intending to determine what the hell went wrong here. I will update when matter is addressed with Las Vegas Event Center. Stay tuned. Oh! And as for all of you that couldn't attend - please do not feel so bad… the event was basically a disaster all around.

Eve Barrett-Drew's picture

Really! What a great question! I have been thinking of going to LV Review Journal just to get some advice! By the way- this was NOT the first concert held at The LV Event Center (Like Sammy Hagar boasted on one of his oress releases) There was an event there on September 21st, so you think that the Event Center would have already had their "SH&^" together) huh? After I started researching other previous "Cabo Birthdays Bash's of Mr. Hagar's, I came upon a disturbing trend of people that got the short end of the stick in one way or another too. I am glad I am not only one who feels "bashed: over the head from paying what we paid and not getting what were promisised!

It was fun to come down from Canada to take it all in. The venue could've easily ruined the experience if I let it, but I'll reserve my comments for what I think of the DLVEC on a site like Yelp. The concert was great. Thanks Sammy!

music69's picture

Sammy is differently not to BLAME! If you go under the events for Bday Bash it states Cabo transfers to RED ZONE Also stating we will be part of the PARTY PIT and PRIME VIEW of the stage. That right there shows Sammy was taking care of us fans!! No where does it misrepresent to get VIP that was all the DVL doings. That's why I didn't even mess around with up grading! I knew Sammy would take care of us. Plus he gave us all free down load of his CD Lite Roast! Sammy is truly about his fans and having fun! No way is this about the money maker like the guy that owns the D!!

vanrice's picture

The concert was awesome and I'm happy I made the trip down from Canada for it. I'll reserve my views of the DLVEC for sites such as Yelp. Love Ya Sammy.

I would have been pissed. I don't know how much blame I would place on bands when venue's suck. I read about the VIP seats and thought about it, but it just didn't sound like they would be down in front, sorry that you wasted that much cash on those seats, I feel bad.

unfortunately, the artist do not always control what goes on at the venue, they can threaten to not return if they hear enough complaints. I hope you never go through that kind of crap again.

SAMMY WOW what a AWESOME Rock & Roll Bday Party!! Love Love Love The Circle and Chickenfoot all of you blew us away!! We had such a BLAST!! Can't get enough of you Sammy!! I'am so ready for the next party to rock with you!! And it's so GREAT to hear about Cabo! Can't wait to be in Cabo soon!!

The venue was absolutely horrible, could not buy a drink, no organization. That promoter should be sued.

Sammy was amazing!!!!

Sammy's voice was perfect, as usual.

tuff2bkris's picture

We were told by the person at the ticket booth that the seating for VIP was about 4 feet from the stage. Nothing but lies.

So if you were in my shoes I think you would be really pissed off. We spent over $420 for that show, how sad. I have been a fan of Sammy's for over 30+ years and never dealt with such an awful venue as this one. Needs more that a little work. The person who put this venue together should be fired and money should be refunded to the VIP's.

CABOMIGHK's picture

We had an awesome time at the show! The venue needs a little work but I understand that it was the first show that they put on, but the $50.00 all you can drink was kind of a rip off. As far as the $125.00 premium seats go, glad I didn't chose those. I know they were elevated and all, but I would gladly put up with rowdy people trying to get in front of me any day!!!!
