When I was in the Army at Fort Hood, I had every single cassette tape of Sam there ever was. My friends busted my balls a lot, because they knew when you walk in my room, your gonna hear it.
A friend had an extra ticket for Texxas Jam 1986, I went there by chance. Sammy, Mikey, Eddy(RIP) and Alex friggin destroyed the place 72,000 people strong, rocked. It was the most memorable ever. I began to be, “Red, Till I’m Dead!”
There were other great bands but, that was the best for a lifetime.
When Sammy climbed to the top of the stage rigging and sang, “I went to the edge, stood and looked down”. I was blown away.
